Complex Sentence-(জটিল বাক্য)

যে sentence এ একটি মাত্র principal clause এবং এক বা একাধিক sub-ordinate clauses থাকে, তাকে Complex Sentence-(জটিল বাক্য) বলে ।

Example with structure-(কাঠামো সহ উদাহরণ)

• We eat food so that we may live.- আমরা খাদ্য খাই যেন আমরা বেঁচে থাকি ।
• We eat food in order that we may live.- আমরা খাদ্য খাই যেন আমরা বেঁচে থাকি ।
• We eat food that we may live.- আমরা খাদ্য খাই যেন আমরা বেঁচে থাকি ।
• The man is my uncle who came here.-লোকটি আমার চাচা যিনি এখানে এসেছিলেন ।
• They walk fast lest they should miss the train.-তারা দ্রুত হাঁটে যেন ট্রেনটি না হারায় ।
• I know the time when he will come back.-আমি সময় জানি কখন সে ফিরে আসবে ।

# Structure: Principal clause + Conjunction + Sub ordinate clause.

# Grammar explanation: উপরোক্ত বাক্য গুলোতে যে সব coordinating conjunction ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে, সেগুলো হলো so that, in order that, that, who, lest, when etc. । আর অন্যান্য underlined clause গুলো হচ্ছে principal clauses. ।

# Keep in mind (মনে রাখা ভালো) : একটি complex sentence চেনার বড় উপায় হলো তার coordinating conjunction দিয়ে । সাধারণতঃ Complex sentence এ যে সব coordinating conjunction ব্যবহার করা হয় তা হলো:- if, though, although, before, after, as, because, since, so that, whether, unless, when, whenever, where, wherever, why, until, while, who, how etc.
