বিভিন্ন উদ্দেশ্যে বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত প্রত্যেক শব্দকে এক একটি part of speech বলে. (Every word used in a sentence for different purposes is called a part of speech) (Or Words used in a sentence for different purposes are called parts of speech-বিভিন্ন উদ্দেশ্যে বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত শব্দসমূহকে একসঙ্গে Parts of speech বলে).

For example (উদাহরণ):

Salma goes to school every day (সালমা প্রতিদিন স্কুলে যায়). এই বাক্যে শব্দসমূহ গুলো হল: Salma, goes, to, school and every day-( In this sentence the words are Salma, goes, to, school and every day etc.). যদি আমরা বাক্যের হাইলাইট শব্দগুলোকে পথ প্রকরণ বা পথ বাছাই করি তাহলে আমরা পদ পাবো যা নিম্নরূপ:
(If we analyse the parsing of the words, we find the individual names of parts of speech of the words highlighted here. The following):
“Salma” = noun
“Goes”= verb
“To” = preposition
“School” = Noun or noun as an adverb.
“Every day”= adverb.

Kinds of parts of speech

Mainly parts of speech are of eight kinds. They are like below:

1. Noun (বিশেষ্য). For example Rahim, Dhaka, Horse, Book, Honesty, Girl, Committee.
2. Pronoun ( সর্বনাম). For example He, This, Who, Which, None, Each, Himself, Each other.
3. Adjective (বিশেষ্য বিশেষণ). For example: Good, Bad, Much, New, Four, This, Which, My.
4. Verb ( ক্রিয়া). For example, Be verbs, Have/Has verbs, Modal verbs, and Strong verbs ( Break). Weak verbs (Build).
5. Adverb ( ক্রিয়া বিশেষণ). For example: Nicely, Here, Yesterday, Twice, Hence, When, Where.
6. Preposition (পদান্বয়ী অব্যয়). For example: At, Into, Beside, In front of.
7. Conjunction (সংযোজক অব্যয়). For example: If, Though, But, and.
8. Interjection ভাব সূচক অব্যয়). For example: Hurrah!, Alas!, Fie, Fie! Bravo!, Hush! Undone! How beautiful the flower is! What a nice bird it is!

# Keep in mind মনে রেখো): আর্টিকেল “a” and “an” এক প্রকার parts-of-speech যাহা adjective ( বিশেষণ) নামে পরিচিত |).
(Article “a” and “an” are also one kind of parts of speech. It is known as an adjective).

2.Pronoun	সর্বনাম অর্থাৎ নামের পরিবর্তে ব্যবহৃত শব্দ।	I, We, Our, You, Your, They, Them. He, She, His, Her. it etc.
3.Adjective	দোষ, গুণ ও অবস্থা বিষয়ক শব্দ ।	Good, Bad, Beautiful, Nice, Fine, Fat, Tall etc.
4.Verb	কোন কিছু করা ।	Do, Go, Sleep, Run, Dance, Fight, Kill, Love etc.
5.Adverb	ক্রিয়া কিভাবে, কখন, কোথায় সম্পন্ন হলো তা বুঝায়|	Well, Nicely, Fast, Swiftly, There, Here, Now, Yesterday, Tomorrow, Always etc.
6.Preposition	Word আগে বসে পূর্ববর্তী Word এর সাথে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করে।	At, In, From, Into, for, beside, Inside, In front, To etc.
7.Conjunction	দুই বা ততোধিক Word/Clause-কে যুক্ত করে।	And, But, For, Or, That, Although, Though, As, If, Yet, Unless, Till, Until
8.Interjection	আনন্দ, দুঃখ, আবেগ, হঠাৎ প্রকাশিত বিস্ময , ঘৃণা , ভয় ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ করে।	Alas!, Fie!, Hush!, Hurrah!, Bravo!, Undone!, Shame!, What a beautiful girl she is!, How nice the flower is!.
